The Chesapeake Region has been invited by the Piedmont Pre-War Car Enthusiasts and Ayrshire Farm in Upperville, Virginia to participate in a 70 mile drive through the Virginia Piedmont. The Piedmond Pre-War club is, as it says, enthusiasts of pre-war cars. But all are welcome to join this drive, but pre-war cars will take the lead and others will follow. So, if you have a pre-war car, it is your chance to give it some exercise. Bring your oldest car. This is a leisurely tour through the countryside, NOT a race.
We will visit a working water-powered grist mill on the Shenandoah River where we will have a box lunch, stop by the Burwell-Morgan Mill and the Old Chapel, Long Branch Mansion, and Bluemont Vineyard, with optional stops at Bear Chase Brewing Company and Barrel Oak Winery and Taproom.
The tour ends at historic Ayrshire Farm where we will have an ice cream social and a farm tour to see the rare-breed cattle, pigs, and horses on this working organic farm.
Cost for the day is $45 per person, not including winery or optional entry fees. The $45 includes lunch and the ice cream social.
We will try to arrange group rates for Long Branch and the Burwell-Morgan Mill (that have entrance fees) once we have a good headcount.
Note: the start and end times listed above are estimates. We will update the exact meeting time once we have more information from Ayrshire Farm.
